International students who would like to attend Stanford without enrolling in a traditional degree program may wish to undertake one of the executive, professional, summer, youth or adult learner programs offered through Stanford University.

Stanford University's reputation as a center for research and innovation attracts scholars and researchers from around the world. Stanford University's community in 2008 encompassed over 2,000 international scholars including 1,400 post-doctoral scholars, 51% from non-U.S. countries.

Stanford welcomes more than 150,000 visitors annually for academic, business and sightseeing reasons. In most cases, business and academic/research visits originate with a Stanford department, institute or center, for example, to attend a conference. Sightseeing tours are also conducted during weekdays for visitors.
